Are you considering a facelift to look more like you used to, but worried about the outcome? Those fears are common but unnecessary when you choose a qualified, board-certified surgeon with the talents and knowledge of Dr. Morales.
Learn what to expect from facelift plastic surgery and how you can help support desirable results.
Why Are Some Men and Women Nervous About Facelift Surgery?
There are several myths surrounding facelift surgery. Probably one of the most prevalent is that you will look unnatural afterward. Many people are worried about the “wind tunnel” or “startled” look. Fortunately, that outcome is outdated, as it was due to old facelift techniques that focused solely on the upper skin layer. Today’s methods include the underlying muscle layer, which delivers natural-looking results.
Another fear is surgical complications and extended recovery time. This is where you and your actions play a pivotal role. Be 100 percent honest with your surgeon about your medical history, risk factors, and current behaviors.
Follow Dr. Morales’s instructions pre- and post-surgery. Avoid smoking and drink lots of water. Ask Dr. Morales what else you can do to help reduce risk and shorten healing time based on your personal case and the procedures you have both settled on.
What Can I Expect After Facelift Surgery?
You may be anxious about how you will look and feel immediately following surgery and for several days to weeks after your procedure. Understanding the recovery process can help overcome these fears and anxieties.
You are likely to have a bandage around your face to reduce swelling and bruising. There may be small drainage tubes as well. Dr. Morales and our team will see you the second day to check everything out and change your dressings. Get lots of rest during the first of recovery and keep your incisions clean.
Swelling, bruising, and discomfort should lessen significantly over the second week. Dr. Morales may remove your sutures at that time. You will feel more like yourself and may be ready to return to work between days 10 and 14.
Healing improves over the following two weeks, and you start seeing the beneficial results of your surgery. Dr. Morales has the trained eye and surgical skills necessary for optimal incision placement. This minimizes and hides their appearance, especially after they have completely healed. In the meantime, you can camouflage any visible incisions with flattering hairstyles and scarves.
Soon, you will be back to enjoying normal activities with a happy, more youthful outlook.
